VETiS Tourism Competition
Tourism and Travel Advisers provide a variety of services to assist clients in planning and organising travel and accommodation, individuals working in Tourism may also be required to provide , geographical, travel and accommodation information to tourists.
The VETiS Tourism Competition is designed to test Competitors against their sales skills and sound knowledge of industry operations to coordinate Tourism services.

IT ALL BEGINS AT A REGIONAL COMPETITION
The WorldSkills Australia VETiS Tourism Competitions begin at a grass roots level in one of 42 Australian regions. The VETiS Tourism Regional Competitions test the skills and knowledge of 4000+ apprentices, trainees and students, who have the opportunity to win gold, silver and bronze medals and gain the chance to go on to compete at a national level.
WorldSkills Australia competitions operate on a two-year cycle. The next VETiS Tourism Regional Competition rounds are now running across the country. 2023 and 2025 are the next National Championship years.

Regional Competition
Training Package Requirements – Regional Level
The 2024 WorldSkills Australia Regional VETiS Tourism Competition aligns to the following Units of competency contained in the SIT30122 – Certificate III in Tourism Qualification.
Regional Competition Tasks
The VETiS Competition is designed to test the skills and knowledge required to work in a Travel and/or Tourism office. Competitors are required to display basic selling skills and have an understanding of client needs and Australian destination information.
Regional Competition Tasks
- Participate in safe work practices
- Provide service to customers
- Provide advice on Australian destinations
- Source and use information on the tourism and travel industry
- Operate online information systems
- Show social and cultural sensitivity
- Sell tourism products and services
- Participate in environmentally sustainable work practices
- Provide visitor information
Regionals Competition Duration
Total competition time is 6 hours over 1 day not including breaks or briefing
National Competition
Training Package Requirements – National Level
The WorldSkills Australia National VETiS Tourism Competition aligns to the following Units of competency contained in the SIT30122 – Certificate III in Tourism Qualification.
National Competition Tasks
The National VETiS Competition is designed to test the skills and knowledge required to work in a Travel and/or Tourism office. Competitors are required to produce accurate, quality documents to meet industry standards. Some tasks are integrated and related.

Total competition time is 15 hours over 3 days not including breaks or briefing
