International

The WorldSkills International Competition is the pinnacle of a young Australian's display of skills excellence.

The Australian Team, labelled the Skillaroos, is provided time and resources to train and prepare for the International Competition. The team also consists of category experts, team leaders and trainers who dedicate their time and knowledge to the preparation of each competitor. These experts help expose our best skill advocates to new developments in other countries including new materials, tools and improved training techniques.

WorldSkills Australia is one of 51 countries participating on the global stage, which is also known as the Skills Olympics. The competition usually runs for 4 days in the chosen host country with conjunct events such as a welcome function, the opening ceremony and the closing ceremony. Australia is currently ranked in the 5th position against the rest of the world and aims to improve from each round of Skillaroos.

Competitors have had to advance from regional and national levels to prove their commitment and skills in their chosen field and the International Competition is the ultimate test. Member of the Skillaroos become ambassadors not only for their skill, but also their home, state and country.

The next International Competition is to be held in London, UK from 5-8 October 2011. http://www.worldskills2011.com/
